Shaun Swingler is an award-winning filmmaker and photojournalist based in South Africa. He focuses on social issues in southern Africa and abroad – particularly crime and conflict. In Shaun’s six-year career as a journalist, stories have included the ongoing drug war in the Philippines, political assassinations in South Africa, rebuilding efforts in Gaza, health stories in conflict-hit Central Mozambique, and a soft coup in Zimbabwe among others.
He recently shot and co-directed a forthcoming Al Jazeera Witness film entitled 'The Reluctant Vigilante', which follows the leader of a vigilante crime fighting group in a poorly-policed South African township.
